The wall sits outside the President Suite, facing the sea, with no water point anywhere near it. That single constraint shaped everything else: rather than cutting into finished structure to run a supply line, the 12m2 planting is fed by a composite reservoir with a recirculating filter pump — and the reservoir was built as a bench, so the heaviest piece of engineering on the job is now where guests sit. The same tropical planting language continues at reception, around a set of illuminated openings.

A President Suite Green Wall Seen at Close Range
Guests staying in the President Suite pass this planting several times a day, from about an arm’s length away. That distance forgives nothing: the wall edge, the cut around the raised lettering, and the evenness of the foliage are all visible. Large foliage establishes the base, trailing plants soften the perimeter, and restrained accent planting keeps a rhythm so the surface never reads as a flat mat.
A living wall inside a guest area should support privacy rather than demand attention. At 12m2, it opens a layered view at the room entrance without overpowering the architecture around it.

No Water Supply: A Composite Reservoir That Works as a Bench
There is no water point at this position. Two routes were available: cut into the wall and run a line from the service area, or hold water on site and circulate it with a filter pump. The second was chosen because it leaves the resort’s finished structure untouched.
A water tank sitting at the foot of the wall, in a spot guests walk past daily, becomes an eyesore if it is built to hold water and nothing else. So the reservoir was formed in composite, finished properly, and capped with a timber top — a real bench, facing the sea. The heaviest piece of engineering on the job disappears from view by becoming useful.
The trade-off is worth stating plainly: a recirculating system needs topping up for evaporation and periodic pump and filter cleaning, which is more attention than a direct supply line. In exchange, nothing was cut into the building, and the entrance gained seating the original architecture did not have.

Tropical Plants Chosen for Salt Wind and Indirect Light
This is a coastal site, and the wind carries salt onto the wall face year-round. At the same time the planting sits in shade under the entrance canopy, receiving almost no direct light. Together those two conditions removed most of the usual vertical-garden planting list: sun-loving species were out for lack of light, thin-leaved species were out because they scorch at the margins in salt air.
What remained is a group of thick, broad-leaf tropical plants that tolerate salt and hold their form in low light. The palette is layered rather than spread flat, because the wall has to work at two viewing distances: one clear green mass from across the terrace, foliage layers and a clean edge up close.
A narrower plant list is the price of the position. The return is that everything on the wall genuinely belongs there, so the planting does not need seasonal replacement.

A Reception Wall in the Same Resort Language
At reception, planting surrounds illuminated decorative openings. The wall has to stay legible during the day and keep its depth when the lights come on at night, because those are the two moments guests look at it most.
This reception wall does not repeat the raised lettering from the President Suite. Its main elements are the foliage rhythm, the illuminated frames, and a clean base that lets the planting read as part of the architecture rather than something added to it.

Conditions for Long-Term Quality
Resort green wall care follows both appearance and operation, because guests meet the planting every day. The routine covers cleaning leaves, pruning to hold form, replacing weak groups, and checking the water route.
On a wall running from a reservoir, three things decide how long it stays good: keeping the water level topped up, cleaning the pump and filter on schedule so emitters do not clog, and checking the leaves on the seaward face, where salt shows first. Irrigation has to stay even, or a 12m2 wall starts drying in bands.
The real condition here is not equipment but timing. Planting in indirect light recovers more slowly than planting in sun, so catching a problem early is always cheaper than correcting it late.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a resort green wall require regular care?
Yes. A hospitality setting needs a stable appearance, so plant and system checks have to be consistent. A wall fed by a reservoir adds pump and filter checks on top of that.
Can you build a green wall where there is no water supply?
Yes, using a reservoir with a recirculating filter pump, as at Stella Sky Suite. The trade is topping up for evaporation and cleaning the pump on schedule. If the reservoir will be in view, budget for finishing it properly so it becomes something usable rather than something to hide.
Do tropical plants suit a President Suite entrance?
Yes, when light, irrigation, and finished wall edges are planned from the start. On a site with salt wind and indirect light like this one, the plant list has to be narrowed by those two conditions before aesthetics enter the conversation.
How is the project cost calculated?
Our published decor packages cover walls of 2–6m2 in Ho Chi Minh City, from 5,450,000₫/m² for the Basic system and 6,450,000₫/m² for the Tropical system, irrigation included. A resort installation like Stella Sky Suite falls outside that range — larger area, distance from the city, and a finished water reservoir on top — so this type of work is quoted against the actual site.
